The Westin Pasadena is located within the Plaza Las Fuentes in downtown Pasadena. It is situated just a couple blocks off of Colorado Boulevard, which is within easy walking distance.
Upon check-in, my reservation was noted, and I was thanked for being an SPG Gold Member. I had quickly had keys in hand, but no further details about the property were given. I had to ask for a late check-out rather than having it pro-actively offered.
The hotel does have a complimentary shuttle, but this was not disclosed at time of check-in, and I did not see any signs indicating that this was a benefit of the hotel.
I was assigned Room 830, which was on an SPG Floor.
Upon entering the room, the bathroom is located to the left. There is a sliding door that closes off the bathroom. There is a single sink with limited counter space.
There is a Westin Heavenly Shower System with dual shower heads, which is a great feature but not the greatest use at the current time due to the drought situation.
There is a small table in the corner, holding hand towels, Kleenex, glasses and the hair dryer.
Upon closer inspection of the bathroom, however it did not appear that it was cleaned, or cleaned very well.
There were water spots all over the glass shelf above the sink, and the countertop was flooded with water. There also was no soap anywhere to be found.
I reported the lack of cleanliness of the bathroom to the front desk, and they apologized and indicated that they would send somebody up to clean the room, while we were out.
When we came back, the bathroom had been cleaned and soap had been furnished.
There are two closets with sliding doors, providing ample storage space. Between the two closets are the coffee maker, and ice bucket.
There is also a mini fridge, and flat screen TV placed on top of a small dresser.
The desk is of adequate size, with outlets conveniently placed. The overall lighting of the room was on the darker side however.
The Westin Heavenly Bed was comfortable with a small night stand located on either side. Sadly, outlets were only located close to one side of the bed.
There is a long couch along the window which is good for lounging sideways, as sitting upright provides little back support.
The pool area is rather small, but given its downtown location I am surprised that they have a pool at all.
The fitness center is actually quite large, and has a large variety of equipment including weight machines, free weight, treadmills, elliptical machines, and a stair stepper.
Valet parking is a reasonable $15 per night, but I pre-paid parking through Park Whiz and only paid $6 for covered self-parking, which is a great deal considering being close to the downtown area.
The hotel itself is nice and in pretty good shape, but the front desk staff could be a little friendlier, and the housekeeping definitely needs some improvement.
