History of Montenegro
Montenegro is a small country in southeastern Europe located between Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Albania and the Adriatic Sea. The history of this region dates back to ancient times when it was inhabited by Illyrian tribes. Later on, the Romans conquered the area and it became part of their Empire. Over the centuries Montenegro has been ruled by different dynasties including; Byzantines, Serbs, Turks and Venetians. In 1878 Montenegro declared independence from Ottoman Empire with the help of Russia and Britain but during World War I they were occupied by Austria-Hungary until 1918 when they regained their freedom. During WWII they were again occupied by Axis powers for four years before being liberated in 1945 after Allied forces defeated Nazi Germany. Afterward Montenegro joined Yugoslavia as one of its republics which lasted until 2006 when it peacefully seceded from federation with Serbia gaining full independence as a sovereign nation once again.
Geography of Montenegro
The geography of Montenegro consists mainly mountainous terrain interrupted by valleys which are mostly covered in forests making up more than 50% of its landmass offering breathtaking landscapes such as Durmitor National Park or Lake Skadar located along its border with Albania. It also features beautiful beaches along its Adriatic coast like Budva Riviera or Sutomore Beach providing great opportunities for beach holidays all year round thanks to Mediterranean climate found here due to proximity to sea creating mild temperatures throughout most parts of country.
Politics Of Montenegro
Montenegrin politics is based on parliamentary system where political power is shared among institutions such as government ministers appointed by president or prime minister who leads majority party elected into office every four years through proportional representation voting process while President serves ceremonial role similar to that found other European countries like France or Germany meaning he cannot directly interfere with policy decisions made at governmental level without approval from legislature.
