## History of Playa Pita, Costa Rica
Playa Pita is a small beach town located on the Nicoya Peninsula in Costa Rica that first began to appear in records around the 16th century. Though it wasn’t officially founded until 1953, its history goes much further back than that. Legend has it that Native American tribes used to inhabit the area before Spanish explorers arrived and discovered gold near present-day Playa Pita. The Spaniards quickly set up a mining settlement there which would eventually become what we now know as Playa Pita today.
