History Of Gregory Town North Eleuthera
The history of Gregory Town can be traced all the way back to 1783 when Loyalists fleeing from The American Revolution settled on this stretch of land in Eleuthera Island. They named their settlement after Captain John Gregory who had been sent by King George III to survey his new territory in 1786 – hence “Gregory’s Harbour”. Since then it has grown into one of the most popular places on the island due to its convenient location near many other towns and attractions such as Preacher’s Cave National Park & Harbour Island Beach Resort & Marina.
