Cathay Pacific Business Class
Hong Kong to Bangkok
Flight CX 653
Leave 12:00 PM, Arrive 1:55 PM

Upon check-in, we were provided with lounge passes and visited The Bridge. The Bridge is calming and relaxing, and I wish we had more time to explore the entire lounge.

Fast Track Immigration Pass
Fast Track Immigration Pass

We were also given Premium Lane certificates to use to go through immigration upon arrival in Bangkok, which certainly helped to save some time.

Business Class seat
Business Class seat

Upon boarding, we were pointed towards the business class cabin. This flight features Cathay Pacific’s old business class model which featured six across seating. The seats are not private, which is okay for such a short flight.

Lunch began with a starter of Hot smoked Creole salmon with French beans and Kipfler potatoes, which was simple but tasty.

Grilled Australian Beef Tenderloin
Grilled Australian Beef Tenderloin

I chose the Grilled Australian prime beef tenderloin with gravy, green pea mash, carrots, asparagus and capsicum for the entrée. The beef was okay, but nothing I would order in a restaurant. Although tenderloin is very tender, there is very little taste since it is one of the leaner cuts of beef.

I skipped on the dessert, as ice cream did not seem too appealing.

Service was friendly and efficient. For a short 3 hour flight, the lack of privacy of business class was not a major issue for us. For those traveling alone, the closeness of your seat mate might be an issue for some.

Premium Lane Immigration
Premium Lane Immigration

Upon deplaning, if using the Premium Lane, it is past the first immigration line that you come across. There is a sign that says “Premium Lane” as well.

Cathay Pacific’s The Bridge Lounge is one of the newer lounges and is located in the West Concourse located by Gate 35. There are two sides of the lounge, unfortunately we only had enough time to explore the North side.

Escalator

In order to get to the lounge, take the escalator down to the reception area. After showing our boarding passes, we were invited into the lounge and were pointed in the direction of The Bakery.

Restroom Door
Restroom Door

Along the wall by the entrance, there is a “secret” door to get to the restrooms. The door blends in with the wall so many people seemed to walk right past it while trying to get to the restroom.

The Bridge was a nice, peaceful and relaxing place to grab a drink or getting something to eat before a flight.

I only wish we would have had more time to explore the other side of the lounge.

Business Class Cabin
Business Class Cabin

Upon boarding, the cabin was still relatively empty. The business class cabin has three seats per row in a slightly staggered fashion. Rows A and D are angled towards each other, while row K offers the most privacy as it is angled towards the back of row D.

Waiting at my seat were two pillows along with a pair of headphones which was placed on the left side of the seat.

Although the seats are fairly private since there are high walls between the seats, they do seem somewhat narrow. It almost felt like I was in a high walled coffin when in the reclined or flat position.

About 45 minutes into the flight meal service started.

Smoked Salmon
Smoked Salmon

The Smoked Salmon Rosette with Mango Salsa appetizer was served with a small side salad. I also chose some garlic bread. The salmon was fresh and tasty, while I didn’t try the salsa as I don’t care for sweet things with savory dishes.

Beef Tenderloin
Beef Tenderloin

The Grilled Beef Tenderloin with Pommery Mustard Sauce, Roasted Potatoes, Asparagus and Carrots was presented nicely. There were some nice char marks on the steak, which was tender but somewhat lacking in flavor, as is usually the case with beef tenderloin. The sauce helped to add some much needed flavor to the steak. The potatoes were roasted nicely, the asparagus still had some snap to it, and the carrots weren’t mushy.

Green Tea Ice Cream
Green Tea Ice Cream

The meal ended with some Haagen-Dazs ice cream. I chose the Green Tea, while vanilla and strawberry were the other choices.

Hong Kong Tea
Hong Kong Tea

Since we were headed to Hong Kong, I naturally had to partake in the Hong Kong Style Tea.

Service during the flight was great friendly and the flight attendants were always present throughout the flight.
