After a day of exploring, we were looking for a light snack. We happened upon Café Avenida for a quick light late lunch.

The Ham & Cheese Omelet was a bit brown on the outside, which made it a little tough. The inside was filled with plenty of ham and cheese though. The dish came with a simple salad of lettuce, tomatoes and onions.

The Grilled Mackerel was simply prepared. The fish was brushed with olive oil and grilled. It was served with a lemon wedge, boiled potatoes, and a lightly pickled salad of sorts. The fish was good and meaty, but being an oil fish was a little fishy tasting. The potatoes were heavily salted, but the slaw cut through both the fattiness of the fish and saltiness of the potatoes.

You are given a little card with a number on it, so the cashier knows which order is yours. The entire meal was under (€10), which I thought was a very good deal. This restaurant won’t win any awards, but a constant stream of locals came in and out during our visit.
