The Batu Caves is one of the major attractions when visiting Kuala Lumpur. The caves and temple are built into the side of a hill. It is one of the most popular Hindu shrines outside of India, and is dedicated to Lord Murugan.
If wanting to go the Batu Caves on your own from the city, it is pretty easy and will cost you a couple of dollars. You will need to buy another ticket in order to get to the caves, however. From the KL Sentral station, you will take the KTM Komuter train towards the Batu Caves.
Once you arrive at the Batu Caves stop, upon leaving the train station you will go to the right and the caves are easily spotted.
After a short walk past the parking lot are the caves, which are free to visit.
To get to the main caves, there are 272 steps to maneuver, but the hard work is well worth the effort. The caves are generally more humid so bring lots of water.
I think seeing the Batu Caves is something that every visitor should do on at least one occasion.
