Perhaps, one of the most iconic symbols in Kuala Lumpur is the “I Love KL” sign. The “I Love KL” sign is part of Merdeka Square.

Merdeka Square, or Independence Square, was formerly known as the Selangor Club Padang and was used as a cricket field.

When Malaysia became an independent country on August 31, 1957, the Malaysian flag was raised at this location.
The site has also been the venue for the National Day Parade.
Merdeka Square is worth a quick visit, unless your primary goal is to take a picture with the “I Love KL” sign, then it is a must visit.
