Matiki Island Barbeque is located in Anaheim, and is actually located closer to Knott’s Berry Farm than it is to Disneyland.
The restaurant is family owned, and is a simply decorated place with an “island” motif spread sparsely throughout the restaurant.
The Lau Lau is a very large portion. Both smoky and salty at the same time. There are large, juicy chunks of pork, but sadly like most places nowadays any hint of butterfish was missing or non-existent. Despite that, still a very solid dish that I would order again.
The Kalbi plate comes with the usual 2 scoops of rice, but a salad can be had instead of the obligatory mac salad. The kalbi is nicely charred and seasoned well. The portion is generous and the flavor is right on point.
Matiki Island Barbeque does things simply, and does them well. I would not hesitate to return if in the area.
