Ban Khun Mae
Ban Khun Mae

Ban Khun Mae is a popular Thai restaurant in the Siam Square area. The décor is simple, and most importantly while hot, it isn’t sweltering inside.

Beef Salad
Beef Salad

The beef salad comes with fresh lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, green beans along with slices of lean beef. The dressing hits all of the trademark tastes in Thai cuisine, name sweet, salty, sour and a little bit of heat.

Cryint Tiger
Cryint Tiger

The crying tiger (grilled beef) comes with a tangy dipping sauce. While not hot, a punch of heat is noted in the back of the throat. The addition of star anise is an interesting twist.

Whole Fish
Whole Fish

The whole fried fish comes smothered in a chili sauce, but is not very hot. There is enough sweetness to make even the most feeble able to tackle this dish. The fish was well cooked, crunchy on the outside and still moist on the inside.

Mango Sticky Rice

The mango and sticky rice unfortunately came with mango that was not super sweet, but did hit the spot for a sweet and light finish to the meal.

Portions are on the smaller side here. If in the area, I would definitely try it again but would not make a special trip just to eat here.
