Hyatt has just announced two new benefits for Diamond members beginning on March 1, 2015. These include 2 United Club passes per year as long as you continue to qualify at the Diamond level. The passes are good for a one time use to a United Club.
Although domestic United Clubs are nothing special, they can be useful during long layovers for a place to get some drinks and snacks. The food is definitely not gourmet, and usually includes sandwiches, fruit, cookies, crackers and nuts. Many United Clubs also get very crowded, so it might not be the most restful place, but internet is also free.
The other benefit is called Guest of Honor. If you make a reservation for family or friends using your Hyatt Gold Passport Points they will be entitled to all of the benefits you would normally receive as a Diamond member including:
• The best room available upon arrival, excluding suites
• A special welcome amenity
• Exclusive access to the Regency Club® or Grand Club® lounge
• Daily complimentary breakfast
• An upgrade to premium Wi-Fi where available
• 4 p.m. late checkout
This can be a very useful benefit if giving family or friends special “VIP” treatment. I probably would not use this benefit very often, unless it was for a special occasion such as anniversary, birthday, etc., or unless I was very points rich.
I don’t see these two benefits as game changers, but it is always nice when loyalty programs can offer members more benefits.
